Are you familiar with Valentine’s Day?
There are various interpretations of his story, but the most important ones have in common his role as an advocate for martyrs, his commitment to conversion to Christianity, and his guidance toward marriage.
According to religious literature he was consecrated bishop of Terni at a very young age and was a healer of epileptics.
According to one legend he united in marriage Serapia, a Christian girl, with the pagan Sabinus, a Roman centurion.
The story goes that Valentine celebrated the marriage in haste because Serapia was seriously ill, and the couple died together in peace while being blessed.
Saint Valentine the Martyr is the patron saint of many Italian localities, so we tried to imagine him on an urn in the Affresco line.
